Surreal Spaceroom Stickers
These images both went through many iterations before reaching their finished state seen here.
The tile room is a 3D model constructed in After Effects originally designed for a series of short looping animations (it can be seen on my Animation page here].
I liked the reflective properties of 3D surfaces in After Effects and felt this liminal space could be used for a series.
So I repurposed it for these still images.
The first image features a lost cosmonaut sitting in a tile room suspended over alien fields. These slightly creepy images were taken from old NASA photos and the concept was inspired by the Lost Cosmonauts conspiracy theory.
With the second image, I had been playing with this floating island city (constructed by collage from a postcard of Chișinău and an upside down photochrom image of a mountain) but had not found a use for it. Combining it with the tile room and adding a nebula and some disco lights seemed to work. It's a trippy psychedelic piece of science fiction reminiscent of 2001: A Space Odyssey's finale.
These images were originally used for the gatefold spread of my redesign of Shiro Schwarz’s Exoplanet Love album. I decided they should get more eyes so I added typography and turned them into standalone graphics.
Vagabond is one of my favorite words so I added “Galactic”, translated it to French, and there you go.
